The kickoff meeting of the FreeMe project took place virtually on June 20th 2022.
FreeMe project is funded by the Horizon Europe research and innovation programme, under the topic Safe and sustainable by design metallic coatings and engineered surfaces. FreeMe aims to eliminate the use of hexevalent chromium and palladium from the plating on plastics process, by proposing two revolutionary approaches for the metallization of polymeric (plastic or resins) surfaces, based on REACH compliant chemicals, avoiding toxic compounds and ensuring long-term sustainability. The proposed technologies will be validated in three end user applications in the automotive, aerospace and home appliances industries.
The consortium consisting of 12 partners from 5 countries had the opportunity to discuss the project objectives and scope, their role and planned actions in the 9 work packages of the project.
EXELISIS is participating in WP7 and WP8. In WP7, EXELISIS is responsible for the development of the decision support tool, while in WP8, our role includes the dissemination, communication and training activities.
