The nexus monARC project has successfully concluded its final review meeting, marking the completion of three years of work under the Horizon Europe programme. The meeting provided an opportunity to present the project’s achievements and validate its outcomes, while also highlighting the next steps beyond its formal duration.
Throughout its implementation, nexus monARC focused on strengthening environmental monitoring capacity in the Hellenic Volcanic Arc, an area affected by multiple environmental stressors. The project contributed to enhancing analytical capabilities, developing harmonised monitoring methodologies, and integrating citizen science approaches into environmental research and stakeholder engagement.
EXELISIS played a key role in supporting the project’s exploitation strategy. This included the definition of specifications and requirements for the establishment of the nexus, the delivery of capacity-building activities on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) and proposal writing, and the development of a structured exploitation framework aligned with the CSA nature of the project.
A central outcome of this work was the preparation of a comprehensive business plan for a potential NKUA spin-off, aimed at building on the project’s methodologies and expertise. In parallel, a partnership framework was established through a Memorandum of Understanding, enabling continued collaboration, proposal development, and stakeholder engagement beyond the project’s end.
With the successful completion of the final review, nexus monARC enters its post-project phase with strong foundations in place, ensuring that the knowledge, networks, and collaboration developed will continue to generate impact in the field of environmental monitoring.
We would like to thank all project partners and contributors for the excellent collaboration throughout the duration of nexus monARC, as well as the European Commission for its support. The strong engagement and collective effort across the consortium have been key to achieving the project’s objectives and establishing a solid foundation for future activities.
