Last week we met as a consortium to prepare for the final review meeting and present our journey over the last 4.5 years. The meeting took place at the Futures Institute at the University of Edinburgh, which is widely known for its motto “Patet Omnibus” – meaning “Open to all.” This was especially meaningful, as the purpose of BIOMAC OITB (Open Innovation Test Bed) was to build a community that is easily accessible and open to all SMEs and researchers aiming to realise their innovative ideas in the field of bio-based nanomaterials.
We also had a wonderful dinner at The Scotsman Grand Café, where we enjoyed great conversations over delicious food and a wide range of topics.
The review meeting provided a great opportunity to showcase the 11 successful test cases, the innovative products and processes developed, and the next steps for the BIOMAC ecosystem. At EXELISIS, as the exploitation managers of the BIOMAC OITB, our goal was to ensure BIOMAC’s post-project sustainability by developing a realistic and dynamic business plan for the OITB.
Special thanks to the University of Edinburgh for hosting the final review, to AUTH for their excellent coordination throughout the project, and to all partners for their dedicated work and effective communication — all of which contributed to the development of a fully validated and operational ecosystem.
BIOMAC OITB is now ready to welcome new members and interested clients into its community for future collaboration opportunities. To learn more, visit the official website or contact the Single-Entry Point, IBB Netzwerk GmbH.
